Hello there! 👋
I'm Quaphee (pronounced kAH-fee).
When I discovered the words "instructional design" a while back, I clearly remember thinking to myself, "Wait...what's that? 🤔 What's instructional design?" My curiosity got the best of me, so I went digging. The more I dug, the more I found; and the more I found, the more my chin dropped! A whole career blending learning theories, tech, design, and creativity? I'd hit the knowledge jackpot! Sign me up, now!
From my tween days corralling neighborhood kids, to shaping the minds of coworkers throughout my adult career, I've always had a knack for wanting to help folks learn how to do something. And if I can creatively apply technology to design something that will help someone learn, that's icing on the cake for me! (Well....maybe not icing, since I'm not a fan, but the spongy cake part...anyway, you know what I mean. HA! 🤭).
Although I currently work in the medical field (and absolutely love it!), cybersecurity is also my jam! (and yeah I've dabbled in other industries besides these), but I've grown to love security awareness/compliance training, including IT audit/compliance. And by the way, I'm an IT auditor too. Hehe! 😁 Yep, that's right! It may sound like a strange combo to some, but not to me! I love what I love, and I love learning, so blame the tech cupid for shooting me with those cyber arrows! 💘
To make learning engaging and effective, I combine storytelling and technology to create realistic scenarios that inspire learners and prompt behavioral challenges. I’m a HUGE fan of Cathy Moore's Action Mapping. And I'm also a HUGE fan of Kimberly Goh's Interactive Storytelling. This dynamic duo has revolutionized my approach to learning design. Now, creating adult eLearning feels more targeted, exciting, purposeful, fulfilling, and a ton of fun! 😃
